TheMoveChannel's New Property Investment Opportunity – New Zealand

(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 19, 2008 ) New Zealand - TheMoveChannel.com, the leading international property portal, announces a number of new properties in New Zealand:

· Apartments in Wellington (£85,000, 1, 2, and 3 bed, perfect investment location, mid 2010 completion)
· Apartments in Queenstown (£280,000, 2 bed, luxury development, free furniture package worth $30,000)

Properties in New Zealand unlikely to be an investment opportunity UK investors have considered in the past, so TheMoveChannel.com provides information on recent changes affecting would-be migrants.

Last week’s general election saw the National Party’s John Key scoop the top job, replacing Helen Clark as New Zealand Prime Minister.

Whilst Key's election is unlikely to see any dramatic policy shifts in either domestic or foreign policy, he told his supporters that the country had--what else these days?--"voted for change."

One change that will come into play will affect wannabe migrant to the land of the long white cloud, of which there are many. Migrants now have three new visa categories to choose from.

John Key’s immigration policy has always focused on the need to bring overseas Kiwis home. It is a right of passage for young New Zealanders to move abroad for a few years after university, often to the UK.

Mr Key also intends to create new visa categories to attract more overseas workers to the country.

Dr Lockwood-Smith, the party’s Immigration Spokesperson, said, “We want to assure potential immigrants, along with all New Zealanders and Kiwi employers, that they will be given an efficient, world-class immigration service that acts with integrity and produces the best outcomes for the widest interests of New Zealand.”

The three new visa types include the aptly named ‘Silver Fern’ temporary work visa. (The fern is the emblem of the country, along with the Kiwi bird).

The Silver Fern visa is intended to alleviate the problem that many migrants face in that they cannot get a job without a visa, but cannot get a visa without a job.

The new visa would allow migrants who possess recognised tertiary qualifications to travel to New Zealand for a temporary period to look for permanent employment in a skilled occupation.

Migrants would be able to take on temporary work while job hunting, and once they had obtained a permanent job offer, could then apply for a two-year work visa.

There will also be a new type of retirement visa aimed at rich migrants, which will make it easier for foreigners to invest in the country.
